The NW5 Project is a small, independent, community-run charity.
We were established in 1973 following a campaign from residents concerned about a lack of facilities for young people on the Peckwater Estate, Islip Street, Kentish Town.
We aim to provide facilities and services for young people of all ages 0-21 and their families, in and around the Kentish Town area. We seek to foster community cohesion throughout our work, and the children who attend our services come from over twenty different nationalities and ethnic backgrounds
NW5 Community Play Project: Who we are
Current services include a daily After School Club for 4-13 year olds. We collect children from five local schools and upon arrival at the Project we provide a healthy snack followed by a range of indoor and outdoor games and activities until 6pm. During every school holiday period we run an all day playscheme and a Breakfast club from 8 - 10am daily.
On a daily basis we have contact during our opening hours not only with the children registered at our Centre, but also other young people who come to use the play site, or the adjacent adventure play area, or the nearby sports pitch. During the Summer months in particular, we are working in some way most days with between 80-100 local children.
We offer apprenciships in Playwork for local teenagers, volunteer opportunities for young people, family and community events, hall hire for childrens parties and much more.
